District 1 Internship & Volunteer Program
Are you a high school or college student interested in local governance? Do you want to effect change in your community? If so, the District 1 Internship & Volunteer Program can offer you unique opportunities to gain valuable work experience and create initiatives that have a meaningful impact on our District 1 communities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, Fremont, Sunol, and East Unincorporated Alameda County.
Mission:
The District 1 Internship & Volunteer Program seeks to foster active relationships with and increase interaction between Alameda County and its youth through community projects and outreach. Through this partnership, we also aim to broadcast awareness of Alameda County’s functions and services.
Responsibilities:
As an intern or volunteer with the District 1 office, you will be tasked with devising a primary community impact project/campaign, complete important administrative tasks for the office, support the work of our staff, perform policy or research projects, and represent the District 1 office at community events.
Preferred Qualities and Skills:

- Interested in local governance and passionate about local issues
- Outgoing, polite, and comfortable interacting with members of the public
- Hardworking
- Innovative
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Fluency in a second language is advantageous but not required
Applications for the Summer Internship Program will open between April and May.
